Boonsboro library design wins award

March 23, 2009

The American Institute of Architects Central Pennsylvania, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, awarded the firm of Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects the 2008 Award for Excellence in Design for its design of the Washington County Free Library's Boonsboro Branch Library.

Company founder Frank E. Dittenhafer II, FAIA, served as the principal in charge of the Boonsboro project. Todd Grove, a member of the AIA Pennsylvania Chapter, was the project architect.

Forty projects were submitted to the AIA Central Pennsylvania award program this year, and the Boonsboro branch library was one of four projects that received merit awards. AIA Central Pennsylvania's membership area is a 13-county area in the center of the state. The jury consisted of architects from Savannah, Ga.

Murphy & Dittenhafer's two office locations are active in the AIA chapters in both Maryland and Pennsylvania. Frank Dittenhafer is a member of AIA Central Pennsylvania and serves on the Board of Directors of AIA Pennsylvania.
