Troop 05, Hagerstown, honored Conner B. Spessard with the highest award in Scouting - the Eagle Scout - March 1 at Next Dimensions.
The members of Troop 05 conducted the opening ceremony and committee member Richard Gilbert served as the master of ceremonies.
Committee member Trish Holsinger read the "Legend of Eagle Mountain" and Eagle Scout Bobby Bechtel gave the history of Conner's accomplishments. Assistant Scoutmaster Robby Holsinger administered the Eagle Charge.
Eagle Scout Chris Baker gave the invocation.
Past Scoutmaster Bob Holsinger presented the Eagle badge and Conner in turn presented his mother with a miniature Eagle pin and his father with an Eagle lapel pin.
Conner is the son of Carl and Dawn Spessard of Hagerstown. Conner presented a mentor pin to his father.
State Del. John Donoghue presented the Governor Citation, state resolution from Sen. Don Munson and a House resolution.
Mike Barnhart from Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378 presented the Americanism Award, along with a U.S. flag. The Elks Lodge provides the Eagle kit for every Eagle Scout in Washington County. U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett presented a congressional recognition, along with a U.S. flag, which flew over the Capitol building.
