Glucose, blood pressure and foot screening

FREDERICK, Md. -The Frederick County Diabetes Coalition and the Frederick County Health Department in collaboration with Centro Hispano and other community agencies is holding a free glucose, blood pressure and foot screening from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at the Frederick Towne Mall. Use mall entrance next to Boscovs. Glucose screenings are available for those 45 years of age and older or if you are overweight and have a risk factor for diabetes. Blood pressure and foot screenings are available for persons who have diabetes or prediabetes. Appointments are required. To register, call 301-600-1861 or for Spanish speaking person, 301-600-3337.

Teen support

Peer-to-peer support group for teens with issues, concerns and questions will meet Wednesday, April 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Washington County Office Building, WCCP, second floor, 33 W. CPR for health-care providers

BERKELEY SPRINGS - Morgan County War Memorial Hospital will offer the American Heart Association's CPR for health-care providers course. The course is designed for licensed health-care providers who need to obtain or renew their CPR certification.

Clinic open house

The Community Free Clinic will host an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at 249 Mill St., Hagerstown. Clinic staff, board members and providers will be present to conduct clinic tours and to answer any questions. Refreshments will be served. For information call 301-733-9234.

Autism conference

A conference for parents, family members, educators, and other professionals interested in helping children with autism spectrum disorders will be Saturday, April 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Washington County Technical High School, 50 W. Oak Ridge Drive, Hagerstown. Registration, refreshments and a resource fair will begin at 8 a.m. The event costs $7 per person. Registration deadline is today.

The conference will feature Andrew Pegg, a 22-year-old businessman who has an autism spectrum disorder.

Workshop topics include behavior, communication strategies for children with autism spectrum disorders, social skills and transitioning.

Workshops are a mix of new games, friends and discussion activities. Sibshops are for 8- to 13-year-old siblings of children with developmental disabilities. Registration for sibshops is limited to 12 children.
