CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Valley Homes and Style Magazine and the Holiday Inn Express are sponsoring an event in the Eastern Panhandle to benefit the Friends of Happy Retreat.

On Sunday, April 5, from 2 to 5 p.m., the public is invited to A Spring Fling in the Great Room at the Holiday Inn Express, 681 Flowing Springs Road, Ranson, W.Va. The April 5 date is a change from the date that was published in the winter edition of The Rising Sun, the newsletter of Friends of Happy Retreat.

The fundraiser will feature an English-style tea with hors d'uvres and sweet treats. The program will feature spring gardening tips from local experts and a new visual presentation of "Jefferson County, West Virginia: Its History and Historic Sites".

Seating is limited. Tickets cost $20 and may be purchased by calling 304-724-7956, 304-728-3939 or 304-535-2627.

Friends of Happy Retreat is a nonprofit organization dedicated to purchasing and restoring Happy Retreat and making it available for use by the public. Happy Retreat was the home of Charles Town's founder, Charles Washington, who was also George Washington's youngest brother.
