Goretti Players



The Goretti Players, along with students from Cumberland Valley School of Music, will present "Seussical the Musical" April 3 and 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Hagerstown Community College's Kepler Theater to pay tribute to Dr. Seuss. Tickets are available at St. Maria Goretti High School or at the door.

TOPS Chapter 77



Joan Gilbert attended the weekly TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meeting, dressed in the spirit of the season as a leprechaun.

Shirley Knode presented a program about motivation and the reality of losing weight. The information she covered included the role of enablers (food pushers), depression, emotional eating, self-deprivation and the importance of exercise. Delores Hays offered a humorous reading, which was followed by the group sharing tips and advice from their own experiences.

The week's best TOPS losers were Susie Sword and Janice Frye. The best KOPS losers were Emma Jean Robertson and Louise Kline.

The "Get 'R' Done" prize went to Janice Frye and Valarie Eccard pulled her own name for the "Ha! Ha!" prize.

TOPS 446



TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 446 had good numbers at the scales. Together, the members are helping each other become healthier.

The group leader went over the chapter bylaws and provided the ABCs of weight loss.

The chapter plans to install officers at its next meeting.

Indoor picnic



The Women's Club will hold its indoor picnic Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The menu includes three meats, two salads, baked beans and a surprise dessert, along with lemonade and coffee. Tickets cost $15. Entertainment will be provided by the Sophisti'Cats from Williamsport High School.

Bus trip



The Women's Club invites the public to a bus trip to the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Va., May 24 to see the premiere of a musical version of Edna Ferber's novel, "Giant."

Card party



The public is invited to a charity card party to benefit Holly Place, at the Women's Club on Wednesday, April 22, at noon. Have lunch, relax and play any card or board game, or just come for lunch. The cost is $12 dollars and reservations can be made by calling the Women's Club at 301-739-0870.

Ham and turkey dinner



Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave. Hagerstown, will hold its spring ham and turkey dinner Sturday, March 28, from 2 to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $9.50 for adults and $3 for those ages 6 to 10. The all-you-can-eat dinner includes ham, turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, saurkraut, apple sauce, cranberry sauce, rolls, beverage and dessert.
