BOONSBORO - Howard Bernard "Howie" Souders Jr., 51, of 1107 Orchard Manor Drive, Boonsboro, Md., died Friday, March 20, 2009, at his home after a lengthy battle with leukemia.

Born March 16, 1958, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Howard B. Souders Sr. of Hagerstown and Marion Keller Hershberger of Hagerstown.

He was a 1976 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Elizabeth Souders; three daughters, Sarah Aleisha Souders of Fairfield, Pa., Amanda Marie Souders of Boonsboro and Angela Wolfkill of Hagerstown; one sister, Lucinda Mae "Cindy" Swales and husband, Gary, of Hagerstown; one brother, John Nathan Souders and wife, Kelli, of Sharpsburg, Md.; and one grandson, Zane Alexander Souders of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nathan J. Souders Sr. and Catherine B. Souders, and John H. Keller and Dollie M. Keller; and his sister-in-law, Diane Souders.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
