PASADENA, Md. - Mary Amanda McFillian Riggs, 88, of Pasadena and formerly of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Friday, March 20, 2009.

Born March 30, 1920, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James McFillian and Grace May McFillian Mason.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Lee Riggs Sr.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by four daughters, Phyllis S. R. Messiora of Inwood, W.Va., Janice R. Mallon of Pasadena, Wilda R. Scott of Bunker Hill and Esther R. Whitten of Catonsville, Md.; one son, Wilmer L. Riggs Jr. of Pasadena; one stepson, George Morris of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two brothers, Robert McFillian of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Kenneth McFillian of Inwood; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda M. Riggs and Barbara R. Foraker; one son, Herman E. Riggs; three sisters, Ada M. Smith, Mazie M. Allen and Helen J. Kerns; and three brothers, Marshall McFillian, Victor McFillian and James McFillian.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at South Berkeley Funeral Chapel in Inwood. Pastor David Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Central Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
