Salem Methodist to offer coffeehouse

Salem Methodist Church, 23 S. Main St., Keedysville, will provide a coffeehouse tonight from 7 to 10.

Mandolinist Tara Linhardt and guitarist Danny Knicely will perform a mix of bluegrass, Irish and other music at 8 p.m. A suggested $10 donation at the door includes coffee bar, tea and gourmet treats.

Participants can sign up for 10-minute open mic time slots by calling Jennifer Silbert at 301-432-7984. This is a family-friendly, nonsmoking event. Funds are used to support the expansion of the music series and to pay the artists.

St. Mark's to sponsor basket bingo March 29

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lappans, will sponsor a basket bingo Sunday, March 29, at the Boonsboro American Legion.

Proceeds from the bingo will support St. Mark's youths as they prepare for Workcamp 2009. Tickets cost $20 and are available at the church office.


Saint Paul's to host Quiet Day

Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St., Sharpsburg, will host Quiet Day, or mini-retreat, March 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day's topic is the "Cross and the Christian Life," and the speaker will be Sister Mary Charles, ASSP, an Episcopal nun from All Saints Convent in Catonsville, Md. The event is open to all and includes lunch. Register by calling the church at 301-432-7098 by March 25.

Zumba classes to start April 1

Zumba classes will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church's Parish Hall, Lappans Road, starting Wednesday, April 1, with two classes at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m.

The session will run for nine weeks. The session costs $50, or $10 per person per class.

A minimum of 10 participants is required to hold each class. For more information, call 240-675-5061.

Merry Gehr to check blood pressure

Merry Gehr will conduct blood pressure screenings Monday at the senior site at the Little Antietam Community Center in Keedysville.

Ag Center to offer seminar

The Agricultural Education Center on Sharpsburg Pike near Sharpsburg will offer seminars called "Keeping it in the Family" March 26 and April 23, both days at 7 p.m. Dan Norris, a financial representative from Chesapeake Financial Group, will be on hand to share insights and offer the best practices and methods to retain ownership and build personal and farm wealth for the next generation.
