WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Shirley I. Ullman Painter, 73, of 4 State Road, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at her home.
Born March 22, 1935, in Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Millard A. and Grace Tolbert Ullman.
She graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1953. She later attended Brigham Young University in Utah.
Her husband, Thomas M. "Tom" Painter, died July 11, 2005. They were married Feb. 13, 1954.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fairview Ward, in Waynesboro.
She volunteered in a number of capacities over the years and supported a variety of community causes and businesses.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon P. Kistler of Waynesboro; two sons, Mark U. Painter of Frederick, Md., and Thomas R. Painter of Waynesboro; one sister, Myra Hansen of Salt Lake City; five grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and nieces and nephews.
