John Franklin Kreigh Sr., 83, of 17538 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Oct. 7, 1925, in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late Fred Spickler Kreigh and Katherine Boyd Kreigh.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Clear Spring and a 1944 graduate of Clear Spring High School. He also was a 61-year member of Medairy Lodge 140 A.F.&A.M., Ithiel Royal Arch Chapter 27, Palestine Council 16 R & S.M., St. Bernard Commandery 9 K.T., Ali Ghan Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Mason Dixon Knife Club, North American Rod and Gun Club and Rattle Run Hunt Club.


He was employed by M.P. Moller Co., was a foreman at Fairchild Industries and a foreman of Mack Trucks Inc., retiring in 1986.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Palmer Kreigh of Hagerstown; one daughter, Cynthia Sue Kreigh of Hagerstown and friend, Randy Hixon; one son, John F. Kreigh Jr., at home and friend, Dana Ray.

Services will be Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Doris Doub and the Rev. Robert Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after 11 a.m.
