Woodrow Wilson beats Musselman, gets Martinsburg next

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Ryan Powers scored 16 points to lead defending champion Woodrow Wilson to a 77-55 win over Musselman in the Class AAA quarterfinals Thursday night.

No. 3 Woodrow Wilson (21-5) will take on No. 2 Martinsburg (24-2) in Friday's semifinals.

Darius Cook added 15 points and Vashawn Wood had 14 for Woodrow Wilson. Second-leading scorer Mike Fortune was held scoreless.

Woodrow Wilson never trailed. The Flying Eagles started the third quarter with a 17-2 run to take a 57-35 lead with two minutes left in the period.

Despite having a size disadvantage, Woodrow Wilson outrebounded Musselman 38-27.

Morgan McDonald had 16 points and Jonathan Alvarez 12 for No. 6 Musselman (19-7), which made its first tournament appearance since 1996.
