Washington Co. offers new Web service

March 18, 2009

Washington County residents will be able to access up-to-the-minute information on county government through a new service now being provided on the county's Web site at www.washco-md.net.

A series of information screens is being used to convey information on items such as employment availability, recycling, public hearings, road closures, emergency information and County Commissioners' agendas.

"The new feature gives us the ability to update public information on a daily basis," County Administrator Greg Murray said in a prepared release. "This addition to our Web page allows for rapid communication with our citizens with the latest information available. This new feature helps to enhance one of the Commissioners' goals of having information readily available to the public."

To access the feature, link to the county's web page. A small rectangle in the upper right-hand corner of the page shows the screens, which change every 20 seconds. Below the screens are instructions to click on the lower right-hand corner of the rectangle in order to view the screens full-size.
