SHARPSBURG - Maurice Sylvester "Peck" Sigler, 90, of Sharpsburg, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at his home.

Born April 19, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Henry and Mary Lucinda Lynn Sigler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Louise Grimes Sigler, in 1993.

He was employed by White Oak Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Silver Spring, Md., retiring in 1974.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Pleasantville Church of God.

He was a member of Potomac American Legion Post 202 of Williamsport.

He is survived by one daughter, Margaret R. Digirolamo of Laurel, Md.; two sons, James M. Sigler of Reno, Nev., and Thomas H. Sigler of Sharpsburg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.


He was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. Sherry Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, with military graveside services by AMVETS Post 10 and the Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 2 p.m.
