HCC 11-13, Tompkins Cortland 1-3

Hagerstown Community College earned a doubleheader sweep at home against Tompkins Cortland on Monday.

Daniel Heatwole had two hits and two RBIs in Game 1, while Charles Johnson, Tay Sidler and Neil Callahan each added two hits. Winning pitcher Spencer Cromer and Tim Ponn combined on a two-hitter for the Hawks.

Garrett Harrison struck out eight and earned the complete-game victory in Game 2 for HCC (12-5). Heatwole had three hits and two RBIs, while Travis Sluger added two hits and three RBIs and Matt Greene and Zach Cook had two hits and two RBIs each.

Ravens Nest scholarships

The Tri-State Ravens Nest No. 12 will award three $1,000 football scholarships as well as a True Grit scholarship in June. Applications for each may be obtained from high school guidance counselors in Washington, Franklin and Berkeley counties. The applicant must have been accepted or will be attending an accredited university or junior college. The deadline for applications is March 31.
