HANCOCK - JoAnn Bivens, 62, of National Pike, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at her home.

Born March 13, 1947, in Greenville, N.C., she was the daughter of Maxine Mazzel Moore of Greenville and the late John Moore Jr.

She attended Baltimore area schools.

She was a cook for Webster B. Harrison American Legion Post 26 of Hancock.

She attended Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Needmore, Pa. and Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church in Hancock.

She was a member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Roger L. Bivens, whom she married July 3, 1965; four daughters, Cynthia Phillips of Waynesboro, Pa., Dawn Souders and Paula Bivens, both of Warfordsburg, Pa. and Angela Zies of Paw Paw, W.Va.; one sister, Marylena Hassel of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, John Moore IV of Odessa, Texas; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church. There will be a gathering of family and friends Sunday after the service at the Hancock American Legion.

Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home in Hancock.
