William "Bill" Thomas Duffey, 82

BOONSBORO - Mr. William "Bill" Thomas Duffey, 82, of Boonsboro, Md., died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Washington County Hospital. He was the husband of Thelma Jones Duffey.
Born May 10, 1926, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Otho and Alice Summers Duffey.
Mr. Duffey attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Hagerstown and went on to serve his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a truck driver for Southern States Petroleum Corporation, after 30 years of service. Bill was a member of St. James Catholic, where he served as corporator for 30 years. He was also a member of the Boonsboro American Legion Post 10. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, fishing and rose gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Wayne Duffey Sr. and wife, Jo Ann, of Boonsboro, Allen Duffey, Kevin Duffey and wife, Sandy, all of Hagerstown and Cheryl Swope of Greencastle, Pa.; four grandchildren, Wayne Duffey Jr. of Boonsboro, William "Billy" Duffey of Funkstown, Stephanie Palmer and Tyler Duffey, both of Hagerstown; four great-grandchildren, Kristi Duffey, Chad Duffey, Leah Palmer and Brynnleigh Palmer; and one sister, Joan Kemp of Martinsburg, W.Va. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Murphy.
