Park chief asks for help to build bridge

March 13, 2009

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. Berkeley Springs State Park Superintendent Chris Hansroth asked the Morgan County Commission on Thursday to help fund a new bridge over Warm Springs Run from the park's gazebo to the pool.

He said the bridge height will be increased 14 inches and arched to decrease the water from flooding the park and into the town streets.

The project cost is about $12,000, and the park foundation has raised $5,300. Hansroth said they will construct it themselves, he said.

Commission President Brenda J. Hutchinson suggested the state or the historical foundation be contacted for funding. She said the commission would review the county budget to see if they could help.

Commissioner Stacy A. Dugan suggested Hansroth request funding from the Town of Bath as well.
