Lohmans, Bakers visit Caribbean

Rodger and Shelva Lohman of Burnside Bridge Road, Sharpsburg, along with friends Leroy and Claira Mae Baker of Myersville, Md., cruised the Eastern Caribbean on the ship Celebrity Solstice from Feb. 15 to 22.

The Lohmans and Bakers left Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and visited San Juan, Puerto Rico, Philipsburg, St. Maarten, Tortola, British Virgin Islands and Labadee, Haiti. After returning to Fort Lauderdale, the couples visited Clearwater, John's Pass, Madeira Beach and New Port Richey.

Samples Manor Cemetery to start spring cleaning

The Samples Manor Cemetery Committee will start spring cleaning for Easter.

The committee asks all persons who have placed memorial items such as flowers and statues on the graves of loved ones to remove and collect these items by March 21, or the cemetery committee will dispose of them.

Lions to sell sandwiches

The Sharpsburg Lions will sell country ham sandwiches Thursday, March 19, for $2 each. Sandwiches can be picked up Thursday after 6 p.m. or sandwiches will be delivered Friday, March 20. Call 301-432-8890 or 301-739-8245 by Sunday to place orders.


Church to hold yard sale

St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2150 Boteler Road, Brownsville, will hold a yard sale Saturday. Look for collectibles, old and new and furniture. Breakfast and lunch will be available. Rent a table for $10. Call Cathy Scuffins at 301-432-8297 or 301-491-0308.

Sharpsburg plans for Heritage Festival

Members of the Sharpsburg community are hosting an informal meeting March 19 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall to discuss the future of the Sharpsburg Heritage Festival. Attend this meeting and share your ideas about this event.

Bridge Club to meet

Manager Tom Janus of the Hagerstown Bridge Club invites Keedysville and Sharpsburg residents to learn how to play bridge. The club plays Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. at the South End Fire Hall.

Warrenfeltz to speak at Sharpsburg library

Denny Warrenfeltz will give a talk and demonstration about gardening and floral decoration during the Civil War period Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at the Sharpsburg Public Library. Class of '77 cruisin' for their 50th birthdays

The Boonsboro High Class of 1977 will be taking a cruise to celebrate their 50th birthdays July 17 to 24 from Baltimore to the Bahamas on the Carnival Pride. Participants will need a passport. Jackie Willison to speak at Keedysville senior site

Jackie Willison will speak on the topic "Improve Your Flexibility" Monday at the senior site at the Little Antietam Community Center in Keedysville.
