Pa. police warn about telephone scam

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are warning residents about a telephone scam in which calls are made to elderly residents in the Chambersburg area.

The caller pretends to be a family member in need of money, police said.

The caller provides instructions for sending the money along with some information about the victim to be convincing, police said.

Anyone who receives a suspicious call should contact the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office at 717-787-9707.
