MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. -- Howard L. "Howdy" Helmick, 61, of Middleway, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at his home.

Born Feb. 10, 1948, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of Anna Lee Rogers Helmick of Middleway and the late Guy Abraham Helmick.

He retired after 30 years from 3M in the Production Department.

He was a Baptist.

He was a member of North American Hunting Club and the National Rifle Association.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Heather L. Helmick of Ranson, W.Va.; one son, Robert D. Helmick of Dade County, Ga.; one sister, Shirley A. Evans of Ranson; one brother, Guy R. Helmick of Kearneysville, W.Va.; his former wife, Mary Ann Helmick; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Kristal Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.


The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers.
