WILLIAMSPORT -- Responding to a report of a stabbing early today on North Conococheague Street in Williamsport, Washington County Sheriff's Department deputies found a 31-year-old man sprawled on a resident's kitchen floor, bleeding from deep wounds on his right forearm.
The victim was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment of his wounds, deputies said.
The hospital said at 9:25 a.m. that the man was no longer a patient there.
Deputy David Junkins and Sgt. Rob Whittington learned from the victim that he and a companion had left a tavern between 1 and 2:40 a.m. and were walking in an alley when a man came out from behind a trash receptacle and displayed a knife.
The victim was stabbed in the forearm when he raised his arm to protect himself from the attack, deputies said. The victim chased the attacker before going to a home and collapsing in the kitchen, deputies said.
