West Hagerstown Lions Club news

Bob Poor, from the Senior Resource Alliance of Hagerstown, will be the guest speaker when the Hagerstown Lions Club meets Monday. His topic will be "Hot Tips for Hot Seniors."

In other club news:

o The club will be selling Easter crafts at the Market House March 21 and 28 and April 4 and 11.

o The club welcomed three new members, Karen Hutchison, Amy Woodward and Mary Chaney.

o The club has had a busy 2009:

o In January, Investigator Kenny Barnhart from the Washington County Sheriff's Department spoke to the club about child abuse. He heads the investigation division of child abuse cases in the county.

o Also in January, the club had a successful ham sandwich sale.

o On Feb. 11, club members enjoyed an evening of bingo with the residents of Walnut Towers. Prizes and refreshments were provided for the residents.


o On Feb. 16, the club hosted the second combined zone meeting; Region II was well represented.

On Feb. 17, the Lions served dinner at the REACH cold weather shelter.

Basket bingo

The Western Heights Middle School PTSA will hold a basket bingo Sunday, March 22, at Western Enterprise Fire Hall. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 1:30 p.m.

The event will include 22 bingo games, raffles, door prizes and tip jars. Baskets will be filled with prizes. Food will be available for purchase.

Tickets cost $20. You must be 18 to play.

Bridge Club

The Hagerstown Bridge Club is in search of players to participate in weekly bridge games. Those interested in learning to play are also invited to attend. The club meets Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. at the South End Fire Hall. For more information, call Tom at 301-582-4552.
