COLLEGE BASEBALL

COCOA, Fla. -- John Barrett had two hits and two RBIs as Hagerstown Community College won its fourth straight game, defeating Abbotsford, of British Columbia, 11-1 on Tuesday at the Cocoa Expo.

Justin Everhart had two hits and an RBI for the Hawks (7-3).

HCC starter Garrett Harrison (1-0) allowed two hits and a run while striking out five in five innings. Billy Hayes pitched two perfect innings of relief.

PREP HOCKEY

Northstars honored

Washington County Northstars center Eric Bowers was named to the All-State second team and the state's senior All-Star team.

Bowers finished the season as the state's leading goal scorer (35) and was tied for the state lead in points (54). Bowers also was a first-team All-Moncacy Valley Conference selection.

Andrew Lowery also was a first-team Monocacy Valley Conference pick, while Bowers, Joe Blackwood and Dakota Durning were named to the Senior Maryland All-Star Skills Team.

Knepper hits hole-in-one

Bob Knepper, of Hagerstown, used a 7-iron to record his first-ever hole-in-one, acing the 145-yard 17th hole at Black Rock Golf Course.

He was playing with Ed Middlekauff and Lynn Brown.
