Love this weather

Now this is what I am talking about. Open those windows and enjoy. As the temperatures become more pleasant, so goes the moods. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this upswing in the weather keeps right on rolling us into spring and summer.

I adore hearing from all of you with tidbits for the column. I would like to hear from more of you with birthdays and other special events.

Feel free to e-mail me at and let me know what is happening. Let's dive right into this week's sharing of information and get you all outside and going.

Bargain sale

Saving money seems to be the theme for our troubled economic times. So why not check out some new ways to do just that. The Women's Club will be having its Spring Bargain Sale Friday and Saturday at the club on South Prospect Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Flea market

Are we talking bargains? Did you know the Funkstown American Legion Post 211's indoor flea market is Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Legion has its flea market the second Saturday of the month, so if you are interested in making a few extra dollars with your extras lying around, then give them a call and see about renting a table for next month.

Basket bingo

The E. Russell Hicks Middle School Band Booster will hold a basket bingo Sunday at Elks Lodge 378 on Robinwood Drive.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $25, which includes 24 games and lunch. In addition, baskets will be raffled and door prizes and tip jars, including King Tuts, will be available. All winning baskets will be filled.

For more information, call Michele Hull at 301-766-8110, ext. 77206, or Betty Sue Kitchen at 301-766-8110, ext. 77218.

The South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association is awarding two $1,000 scholarships to two graduating seniors this spring. Applications are available in the South High guidance office.

A quick reminder that the South Hagerstown High School PTA meeting is Thursday at the school at 6 p.m.
