March 10, 2009

CLEAR SPRING - Excitement is running high as the Clear Spring High School Drama Club gears up for its presentation of "Guys and Dolls" April 3 to 5.

Performances on April 3 and 4 will begin at 7:30 p.m. On April 5, the show is at 2 p.m.

Tickets cost $8 for adults and $6 for students.

"Guys and Dolls" is based on the story and characters of Damon Runyon, and features the music of Frank Loesser. It opened on Broadway in November 1950, winning eight Tony awards and garnering rave reviews.

The four lead parts will be handled by Clear Spring High School students Sam Myers as Nathan Detroit; Kelsey Hovermale as Miss Adelaide; Zach Repp as Sky Masterson; and Malea Snyder portraying Sarah Brown.

All the hot gamblers are in town, and they're all depending on Detroit to set up the week's incarnation of "The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York." The only problem is, he needs $1,000 to get the place. Throw in Brown, who's short on sinners at the mission she runs; Masterson, who accepts Nathan's $1,000 bet that he can't get Brown to go with him to Havana; and Miss Adelaide, who wants Nathan to marry her.
