Christ Night set for March 28



BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Christ Night 2009, sponsored by the Berkeley Springs Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Berkeley Springs High School gymnasium. Keith Elias, former NFL special team and backfield player for the New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts will be the featured speaker.

Other speakers include Jonathan Yost, chaplain with the 167th Air Guard in Martinsburg, W.Va.; and Matt Bartges, Fellowship of Christian Athletes student leader at Shepherd University.

Artwork sought for May exhibit



Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery is sponsoring an emerging artist exhibition on Saturday, May 2.

Students are invited to submit their artwork by 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26, to the gallery at 4 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown.

There is no fee for submissions. Students may enter one piece in any media. Prizes will be awarded.

Light refreshments will be provided by Rainbow Connection.

Work needed for 'Hope' auction



FREDERICK, Md. - Student artists from around Frederick County are invited to submit their original works of art to help raise money to fight homelessness through the upcoming "Young Artists for Hope" auction. The auction is a part of Hope Alive Inc.'s annual spring fundraising event, "Visions for Hope," to be held Thursday, March 26, at Delaplaine Visual Arts Center in downtown Frederick.

Students age 18 and younger are invited to submit quality works in a variety of three-dimensional and two-dimensional media. Hope Alive welcomes ceramics, textiles, jewelry, glass, painting, photography, graphic arts, drawings and more. There are no size restrictions but two-dimensional art must be matted.

Celebrity night on Wednesday



Miss Washington County 2009 Whitney Colombo is hosting a celebrity night Wednesday, March 11, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Hempen Hill Restaurant, 13208 Fountainhead Plaza, Hagerstown.

Fifteen percent of restaurant receipts will support the Children's Miracle Network, Colombo's designated charity. Celebrities waiting on tables include radio personality Lou Scally, Miss Washington County Outstanding Teen Audreanna Colombo, Federal Little League coach Bill Abeles, and Hagerstown Suns public relations official Ryan Mock.
