Longmeadow Lions



The Longmeadow Lions Club will have a representative from the Community Free Clinic as a program speaker at its meeting Thursday.

The club will hold its spring pancake breakfast Saturday at First Christian Church on Potomac Avenue from 7 to 11 a.m. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, Hoffman sausage or puddin,' orange juice, coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

New officers



TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 77 elected officers at its last meeting. The new officers are Donna Blackowitz, leader; Patsy Price, co-leader; Cindy Ryder, secretary; Madalyn Keller, treasurer; and Judy Purdham, assistant treasurer.

The February Shining Star voting results will be announced at awards day.

Last week's program, titled "My Best Friend - Me," was presented by Patsy Price.

The contest for March, titled "March," begins today and will focus on a healthy lifestyle with fun activities each week.

This week's best losers were Pat Horning and Janice Frye. Frye also won the "Get-R-Done" kitty. Trudy Heather won the "Ha Ha" prize.

Food drive



Curves in the North Village Shopping Center is giving free memberships to those who bring in a bag of healthy, nonperishable groceries to be donated to the local food bank. Curves will be collecting food all month. For more information, call 301-733-3777.

Curves will also hold its Amazing Women meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the North Village shopping Center location.

The topic to be discussed is "Emotional Eating and Resisting Temptation." The free meeting is open to the public. For more information or to reserve a seat, call 301-733-3777.

TOPS 446



At last Wednesday's meeting, TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 446 members shared with each other the tools they use daily to help them learn how to become healthier.

The group is starting a contest using these tools so they can become a habit. The chapter welcomed a new member, Lisa, to the group.

St. Maria Goretti



The 13th annual St. Maria Goretti High School bonanza will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Gael Center. Tickets cost $40 in advance, $45 at the door. Tickets include dinner, beverages and dessert. Tip jars, raffles, themed baskets and a silent auction will also be available.

Spaghetti dinner



St. Ann Catholic Church will hold a spaghetti dinner Sunday, March 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church at 1525 Oak Hill Ave. in Hagerstown.

Tickets cost $7 for adults and $4 for those ages 3 to 12. Those 3 and younger will be admitted free. Carryout will be available.

All proceeds benefit the teens' summer youth conference, national conference and work camp experiences.
