The Burgans

Wayne and Connie Burgan of Antietam celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party given by their children at New Life Fellowship.

Their brothers and sisters and their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren attended. The Burgans also were honored with a card shower from other family members, their church family and friends.

Mr. Burgan retired from Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg and worked part time at Battleview Market in Sharpsburg.

Mrs. Burgan was a homemaker.

They have four children, Penny Strite and husband Darrel; Pam Singhas and husband Kenny; Garvin Burgan and fiance Debbie Hoffman; and Richard Burgan. They have eight grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

The Burgans were married on Aug. 30, 1958.

The Alsips

Silas R. Alsip and Susan Grubb Alsip of Hagerstown celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

While at Myrtle Beach their niece, Debbie, treated them to dinner at a Brazilian Steakhouse, Rioz, and a show at the Carolina Opry Theater. She also hosted a dinner for them in honor of their anniversary with family and friends.


Mr. Alsip is employed at Lenox Distribution Center, Hagerstown. Mrs. Alsip was employed by Chaimson Brokerage Inc. in Columbia, Md. She is now a housewife.

The Alsips have one son, Brian Alsip, and his wife Megan, and three grandsons.

They were married Feb. 13, 1969, in Hagerstown.

The Dorriers

Larry and Linda Dorrier of Hagerstown celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Oct. 26, 2008, with a vacation in Cherry Grove, S.C.

The couple was married by Pastor Fuchs, a former pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hancock.

Mr. Dorrier is retired from Miller Auto Group of Martinsburg, W.Va.

Mrs. Dorrier is retired from the State of Maryland Circuit Court for Washington County.

They have one son, Jason and a daughter-in-law, Heather.
