The Mason-Dixon Council conducted a winter camporee at the Stanley Farm near Hancock from Jan. 9 to 11 with more than 200 Boy Scouts and leaders in attendance.
Patrol challenge events were set up throughout the camp, with scouts participating in a knot tying, distinguishing between biodegradable and nonbiodegradable items, emergency shelter building with minimal impact, first aid, tent setup and fire building, all with an emphasis on camping and leaving no trace.
The following were winners of the competitions:
First place - Troop 95, Big Foot Patrol; second place - Troop 95, Longhorns Patrol; third place -Troop 99, Champs Patrol.
Saturday evening a campwide campfire was conducted with troops providing songs, cheers and skits. On Sunday morning, a religious service was held with a closing ceremony following.
