MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- William J. Woodward Jr., 65, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at City Hospital.

Born Sept. 19, 1943, in Loudoun County, Va., he was the son of the late William J. Woodward Sr. and Alice R. Fletcher Woodward.

He was a truck driver retired from D.A.M. Express.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian K. Bailey Woodward; one daughter, Connie McCleary Carter of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Kevin Woodward of Winchester, Va., and William J. Woodward III of Charles Town, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Teresa Chapman of Martinsburg and Jamie Mills of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one stepson, James Usilton of Martinsburg; one sister, Eden Getts; six brothers, Evert J., Nelson P., Steve A., Roy H.R., Aubrey L. and Sylvester O. Woodward; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia R. Woodward; one son, Hubert R. Woodward; two sisters, Nellie Painter and Linda Cameron; and one brother, Gene A. Woodward.


A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson, W.Va. Pastor Jimmy Williams will officiate.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
