Little League tryouts

Sharpsburg Little League will hold tryouts on the following dates:

Wednesday, March 11 - 9-year-olds, 5:30 p.m. to dark; Thursday, March 12 - 10-year-olds, 5:30 p.m. to dark; Friday, March 13 - 11-year-olds, 5:30 p.m. to dark; Saturday, March 14 - 10- and 11-year-olds, 10 a.m. to noon; 9- and 12-year-olds, noon to 2 p.m.; 7- and 8-year-olds, 2 to 4 p.m.; Sunday, March 15 - 7- and 8-year-olds, 4 to 6 p.m.; and Monday, March 16 - 12-year-olds, 5:30 p.m. to dark.

All players are urged to arrive a half hour before the start of tryouts to sign in and receive a number. Players should attend two tryouts. Anyone who still needs to register can do so at any of the tryouts. For more information, go to on the Web or call G.E Ingram at 301-432-0056.

Revival planned

Mount Briar First Church of God, at 4705 Mount Briar Road, Keedysville, will hold a revival from Sunday, March 15, to Wednesday, March 18, at 7 p.m. each evening. Preaching and special music will be featured each evening: Sunday, March 15 - Pastor Paul Kemp; Monday March 16 - Pastor Ernest Witmer; Tuesday, March 17 - Pastor Mark Halliday; Wednesday, March 18 - Pastor Tom Weil.


All are welcome to the revival.

Basket bingo

Keedysville Ruritan will sponsor a basket bingo Saturday, March 14. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. Baskets will be filled.

Chance baskets, games of chance, food and King Tut (if attendance allows) will also be available. Tickets cost $15. Seating is limited so call ahead to reserve a ticket. All tickets must be paid by 5:30 p.m. or risk losing a ticket. No one under the age of 13 will be admitted. No smoking will be permitted. Call 301-432-2650 or 301-432-0281 for tickets.

Breakfast set

The Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. with sausage, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, coffee and juice for $5. The company will hold a steak dinner March 14. Tickets must be purchased by March 10. Call 301-432-2130 and leave a message or contact Henry Ingram.

Cemetery to be cleaned

The Keedysville Fairview Cemetery Committee requests that owners remove Christmas flowers from grave sites in the cemetery by March 15 in preparation for spring cleaning.

Ita Kavanaugh to speak at senior site

Ita Kavanaugh will speak on the topic "Alzheimer's disease" Monday, March 9, at the senior site at the Little Antietam Community Center in Keedysville. Call manager Martha Drennen at 301-432-5624 for more details.
