Charles E. "Bob" Weaver, 83, of Maugans Ave., Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the NMS Healthcare Center in Hagerstown.

Born on Sept. 28, 1925, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Harry Allan and Della Christina (Robinson) Weaver.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Coates.

He had worked for Fairchild Aircraft and then retired in 1986 as a machinist for Mack Trucks Inc., where he was a member of Local UAW 171.

He was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post No. 42; Amvets Post No. 10; and a lifetime member of the BPO Elks, Post No. 378.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Fern Yvonne (Harnish) Weaver; a son, Robert L. Weaver and wife Susan of Hagerstown; a sister, Betty Barnhart of Cearfoss; and a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Weaver of North Beach, Md.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry A. Weaver Jr., Donald L. Weaver and Roy M. "Jack" Weaver.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy Mid-Atlantic Command Honor Guard.

Friends will be received on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
