WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- James H. "Jim" Tresler Sr., 76, of 301 N. Broad St., died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at his home.

Born Feb. 20, 1933, in Pennersville, Pa., he was the son of the late Herman E. and Esther Stottlemyer Tresler.

He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for more than 42 years, primarily as a tank jockey, retiring in August 1993.

He was a member of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.

He was a member of Wellsville (Pa.) Frontier Days Saddle Club.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Towler Tresler, whom he married Oct. 12, 1979; one daughter, Christine Rodriguez of Waynesboro; one son, James Tresler Jr. of Waynesboro; one stepdaughter, Kimberlee McFerren of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Cynthia Webb.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. William Hammann will officiate. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
