GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Nathan "Nate" Byers, 20, of 10180 Grindstone Hill Road, and a resident of 429 N. Charlotte St., Lancaster, Pa., died peacefully in his sleep Monday, March 2, 2009, at his home in Greencastle.

Born Oct. 21, 1988, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of James A. and Laura Schmelder Byers of Greencastle.

He was a 2006 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School and received his associate degree from YTI in York, Pa.

He was employed by Cimbrian of Lancaster as a computer networker.

He attended Lifegate Ministries in Fairview, Pa., and formerly attended Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Abigail Byers of Greencastle; one brother, Andrew Byers of Greencastle; maternal grandparents, Richard and Gail Schmelder of Greencastle; paternal grandfather, Adam Byers of Greencastle; six aunts; five uncles; and 11 cousins.


He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Byers.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Wilber Besecker will officiate. Burial will be in Antrim Church Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
