Hagerstown Police respond to incidents



Hagerstown Police responded recently to the following incidents:

Saturday, Feb. 28:

o At 2:30 p.m., damage to a vehicle's window was reported in the 500 block of Ridge Avenue.

o At 3:54 p.m., theft of a beige 2003 Kia sedan with the Maryland tag number 1BJV22 was reported stolen in the unit block of Magnolia Avenue.

Friday, Feb. 27:

o At 8:36 a.m., burglary and damage to property was reported at Pottery By Me and More, 1201 Dual Highway.

o At 10:04 a.m., fraud and counterfeit currency were reported at AC&T, 301 N. Burhans Blvd.

o At 12:25 p.m., property was found in the 100 block of West Franklin Street. A wallet was found.

o At 1:03 p.m., theft was reported in the 200 block of Belview Avenue. A playhouse was taken.

o At 7 p.m., theft of clothing was reported at Family Dollar, 591 Dual Highway.

o At 9:26 p.m., damage to a vehicle was reported in the 500 block of Chestnut Street. Emblems were taken.

Thursday, Feb. 26:

o At 2:40 a.m., damage to a window was reported at AC&T, 1615 Wesel Blvd.

o At 9:39 a.m., a wallet was reported stolen in the unit block of Nottingham Road.

o At 3:51 p.m., pellet guns were confiscated in the 12800 block of Little Elliot Drive.

o At 5:37 p.m., theft was reported in the 500 block of Frederick Street. A red, yellow and blue 26-inch, 24-speed Proflex Animal bicycle was taken.

o At 11:10 p.m., an accidental overdose was reported in the 300 block of Woodpoint Avenue.

Wednesday, Feb. 25:

o At 3:23 p.m., cruelty to animals was reported in the unit block of Elizabeth Street.

o At 4:16 p.m., theft of a transmission was reported in the 900 block of Concord Street.

o At 5:45 p.m., drug violations were reported in the unit block of Berner Avenue.

o At 7:58 p.m., second-degree assault was reported in the 200 block of Railway Lane.

o At 9:17 p.m., damage to a vehicle windshield was reported in the unit block of Winter Street.

o At 10:24 p.m., drug violations were reported in the area of Cleveland Avenue and Franklin Street.

o At 11:40 p.m., theft of a green 27-inch, 21-speed Next bicycle was reported in the 100 block of North Burhans Boulevard.

Tuesday, Feb. 24:

o At 8:47 a.m., a mail scam and fraud were reported in the unit block of West Baltimore Street.

o At 9:46 p.m., drug violations were reported in the 100 block of North Mulberry Street.

Monday, Feb. 23:

o At 8:45 a.m., an unattended death was reported in the 100 block of Park Lane.

Sunday, Feb. 22:

o At 2:57 p.m., theft of facial products was reported at CVS, 34 N. Cannon Ave.

o At 5:45 p.m., theft was reported at North Hagerstown High School, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave.

Four tons of fertilizer stolen in Frederick



FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Frederick police say four tons of fertilizer have been stolen from a farm supply store.

The fertilizer disappeared from the Southern States store in the 500 block of East South Street in Frederick some time Saturday night or early Sunday.

A store representative told police that 2,000 pounds of urea and 6,000 pounds of other fertilizer are missing. The fertilizer was in white 50-pound bags with a company logo.

Lt. Clark Pennington says they don't know what the motive behind the theft is, but they have notified the Maryland Coordination Analysis Center, which alerts all federal agencies of the theft.

Franklin County man robbed while showing property line



NEWBURG, Pa. - A man told police he was robbed after men claimed to be working for a landscaping firm and lured him out of his Franklin County home.

Howard M. Bender, 79, of 17095 Cumberland Highway, told Pennsylvania State Police that an unknown number of people came to his door and said they worked for a landscaping firm and needed him to show them his property line.

While Bender took one person to the property line, another person entered Bender's residence and removed a large amount of money, police said.

Chambersburg boys face charges in theft of fellow student's iPod



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Two Faust Junior High School students were charged Saturday in a robbery that was caught on Chambersburg Area School District security cameras.

The Chambersburg Police Department charged a 15-year-old student with robbery and a 16-year-old student with receiving stolen property. Police say the students robbed a fellow student of his iPod Touch.

Police said the 15-year-old student approached the victim and forcibly took the iPod.

He later gave the iPod to the 16 year-old to hold for him, police said.
