SMITHSBURG -- A Hagerstown man faced charges Tuesday following a vehicle and foot chase in the Smithsburg area, Maryland State Police said.

At 10:27 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen from Ott's Horticulture at 21223 Twin Springs Drive in Chewsville, according to a news release.

At 10:46 a.m., a trooper saw a 1999 green Dodge Caravan matching the description of the stolen vehicle in the area of Jefferson Boulevard and Md. 77.

The driver failed to stop and the trooper pursued the vehicle behind Smithsburg Plaza. The driver then tried to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended, police said.
