CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary "Lou" Horst, 85, of Chambersburg, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 27, 1923, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Wesly Seymore and Frances Rhoades Resh.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and Hagerstown Business College.

She retired in 1979 from the federal government after 30 years of service.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.

She is survived by her husband, Guy William Horst of Menno Haven Retirement Community in Chambersburg; sister-in-law, Mary Keller of Maugansville; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Sarah C. Spickler, Dorothy Thompson, June E. Murphy and Blanche M. Lopes; and seven brothers, Charles W. Resh, Ralph E. Resh, James M. Resh, John W. Resh, Kenneth R. Resh, David L. Resh and George H. Resh.


Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown. The Rev. John Dromazos will officiate. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hagerstown Union Rescue Mission, 125 N. Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
