WOMEN'S BASKETBALL



SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd used a quick start to build a 48-27 halftime lead and the Rams went on to eliminate Concord 94-79 Monday in the openeing round of the West Virginia Conference playoffs.

Krissy Grosselin had a game-high 32 points and Carrie Saunders added 21 for Shepherd (15-13), which will meet West Liberty on Wednesday in the quarterfinals in Charleston. Grosselin went 16 of 18 at the line to establish a school record for free throws made in a game.

Former Boonsboro star Jerica Hewett contributed a career-high 17 points and added seven steals. Katie Warehime had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

MSWA Jr. Championships

TIMONIUM, Md. -- Several members of the Williamsport Youth Wrestling Club competed over the weekend at the Md. State Wrestling Association Junior Wrestling Championships.

Kobe Baker placed first in the 85-pound weight class while Saavon Brown finished second at 122 pounds. Justin Beckley (70), Tanner Canfield (80) and Shuntan Hickman (135) placed third while Alaric Hickman (95), Dalton Condo (140) and Lasher Urciolo (170) each placed fourth.
