MAUGANSVILLE - Francis G. "Happy" Miller, 81, of Maugansville, and formerly of Williamsport, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home, Boonsboro.

Born April 24, 1927, in Washington County, he was the son of the late John Ellsworth Miller and Willa Victoria Sharon Miller Flurie.

He was employed by Cushwa Brick of Williamsport until retiring in 1989.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He was a Baptist.

He was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion of Williamsport.

He is survived by his wife, Isabel A. Fischer Miller, whom he married Aug. 25, 1951; one daughter, Linda L. McCrone of Knots Island, N.C.; one son, John L. Miller of Hagerstown; one sister, Shirley M. Piper of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two brothers, John D. Miller of China Grove, N.C., and Robert S. Miller of Williamsport; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.


He was preceded in death by six sisters, Claudine Fink, Janice Wright, Regina Miller, Laverne McAllister, Freda Young and Lucina Johnson; and four brothers, Eugene Miller, Charles Miller, Buddy Miller Jr. and Wallace Miller.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. Richard E. Snyder and Pastor Allen Youngbar will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.
