WILLIAMSPORT - William E. "Bill" Bussard, 77, of Williamsport, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at his home.

Born July 4, 1931, in Washington County, he was the son of the late William Edward Bussard and Amelia Agnes Chaney Bopp.

He was employed by McCleary & Earley for 45 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Clear Spring.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose of Williamsport; Improved Order of Red Men, Conococheague Tribe No. 84, Williamsport; Sons of the American Legion Potomac Post 202, Williamsport; and North American Rod & Gun Club of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Marie E. Bowman Bussard, whom he married June 9, 1951; five sons, William D. Bussard, John M. Bussard and Scott W. Bussard, all of Hagerstown, Alan D. Bussard of Funkstown and Jerry E. Bussard of Waynesboro, Pa.; one sister, Elizabeth A. Baldwin of Bloomfield, N.M.; one half sister, Peggy Cress of Providence Forge, Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. Pastor Len Smith will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.
