A member of Congregation B'nai Abraham, Hagerstown, she served as president of its Sisterhood, sang in the congregation's choir for 25 years, was the origination and editor of the congregation bulletin for nine years and taught in the religious school. She was a life member of Hadassah.
She was a volunteer worker for four years in the record room of Washington County Hospital.
A life member of the Brandeis University National Women's Committee, she served as a board member of the Baltimore chapter of the committee.
She served as a member of the Maryland Symphony Board and a member of the Maryland Symphony Guild in Hagerstown.
For 11 years, she served on the board of the Washington County Chapter of the Red Cross. She was chairperson of the Washington County State Convention for the Red Cross and was recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Red Cross.
She served as the Washington County Heart Association chairperson for Mothers' March. She received awards from the Heart Association, the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes for volunteer work.
She worked for many years for the Needlework Guild, Hagerstown. She was a volunteer in the nursing station at North Hagerstown High and in the cafeteria at Fountaindale Elementary. In addition, she served in the school's PTA.
Services will be held at Sol Levinson Funeral Home, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Baltimore, MD 21208 on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at noon.
