Gish, Hammond, others honored for service to retirement home

Several Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village employees received awards at this year's staff recognition dinner recently at Boonsboro American Legion.

Karen Gish and Gail Hammond were honored with service excellence awards. They were nominated by their peers during a recent survey. Besides these honors, many on the staff received recognition for years of service to Fahrney-Keedy.

Gish, of Boonsboro, is assistant director of the dietary department and is in her 36th year at Fahrney-Keedy.

Hammond, of Fairplay, works in the housekeeping department and is in her second year.

Those honored for their years of service to Fahrney-Keedy were Barbara Weber, social services director, and Janet Filler, nursing department, 40 years; Ginger Lowery, environmental services, 35 years; Martha Wolfe, human resources, 20 years; Donna Clark and Kathy Cosens, both of nursing, 15 years; Deborah Martz, environmental services, and Mary Moore, nursing, 10 years; Kelly Keyfauver, Rose Wenger, Pamela Burger, Carrie Davis, Ronda McGilton and Carla Spataro, all in nursing, five years, and Marvin Ickes, dietary, five years.

Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village, a continuing care retirement community, is along Md. 66 a few miles west of Boonsboro. With nearly 200 full- and part-time employees, it serves a resident population of almost 200 women and men in independent living, assisted living and long- and short-term nursing care.
