CLEAR SPRING - Violet Christina Lee, 90, formerly of Clear Spring, Md., and a resident of Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at the home.

Born March 15, 1918, in Millbrook, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter S. Strother and Nora C. Davis Strother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Martin Lee, in 1968.

She was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ and was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Patsy D. Lee of Hagerstown; one son, Irvin Eugene Lee and wife, Audrey, of Boonsboro; a special niece, Una Yeakle of Big Pool; grandchildren, Gary Lee and wife, Tonya, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Bradley Lee and wife, Kamela, of Big Pool, Krista Poffenberger and husband, Tony, of Clear Spring; four great-grandsons, Colby Poffenberger, Jacob Lee, Joshua Lee and Jerred Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Eula Spaid, Lena Pugh, Edna Brill and Velma Lee; and five brothers, William, Raymond, Kinsel, Marvin and Ralph Strother; and one stepgrandson, Justin Russ.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge, W.Va., at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Richard Daughtridge and the Rev. Eric Bridges will officiate. Burial will be in Green Lane Cemetery in Delray, W.Va.

The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon on Sunday.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Association of Western Maryland, 5 Public Square, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Local arrangements are being handled by Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Clear Spring.
