February 27, 2009

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - A Jefferson County (W.Va.) Schools teacher faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to a federal charge of sexual enticement of a minor.

Shepherdstown Elementary School art teacher Douglas E. Hunt, 51, of Charles Town, was arrested in December after he was caught in an Internet sex sting conducted by police in Leesburg, Va.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office for the Eastern District of Virginia, Hunt agreed to pay $220 for what he thought would be sex with two girls, ages 12 and 13. He was arrested at a Leesburg hotel.

In addition to facing jail time, Hunt must serve five years probation and register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction where he lives, works or attends school. He also must surrender any teaching licenses he holds in West Virginia or any other state.
