BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Hugh Roy Crane, 81, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at his home.
Born Jan. 26, 1928, in Clinton, S.C., he was the son of the late Walker C. and Lillian Cole Crane.
He served in the Navy from Jan. 2, 1946, until his retirement Sept. 1, 1979.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of The Retired Officer Association of Alexandria, Va., The Navy Cryptologic Veterans Association of Washington, D.C., the Military Officer Association of America, AARP and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy May Mussaw Crane, at home; three daughters, Karen A. Sellner of Clarksville, Tenn., and Susan C. Mann and Lydia M. Havermale, both of Berkeley Springs; two sons, Steven P. Crane of Alexandria, Va., and John C. Crane of Dayton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
