MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Joseph E. Nicewarner, 79, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at his home.

Born Aug. 17, 1929, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Willard Perry Nicewarner and Pearl Armbrester Nicewarner.

He retired from General Motors.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders of America.

He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Cathy E. Crim of Lexington Park, Md., and Mary Jo Martin, M.D., of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Frances Hise of Dade City, Fla.; one brother, Wayne L. Nicewarner of Annapolis, Md.; and two granddaughters.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Greene Nicewarner.

Services will be Monday, March 2, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. John R. Yost will officiate. Military graveside services will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
