SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Police on Wednesday were still unable to positively identify a man who died in a fiery car crash on Flowing Springs Road early Tuesday.
Police were able to determine that the man had dental records in Lewis and Braxton counties in West Virginia and they are hoping the man can be identified today, Jefferson County Sheriff Robert "Bobby" Shirley said Wednesday.
The man's car -- a teal BMW four-door sedan -- struck two utility poles, flipped onto its roof and burst into flames about a half-mile south of the intersection with W.Va. 230, Shirley said.
The victim was too badly burned in the approximately 3 a.m. crash for authorities to make an identification, Shirley said. The driver was alone in the car.
