DeLinda Lee Shumaker, 64, of Hagerstown, passed away Feb. 23, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 2, 1944, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Harrison and Virginia Katherine (Savory) Cooper.

She was a Protestant by faith.

She retired as a fraud specialist at Citigroup of Hagerstown in 2001 after 20 years of service.

She was a member of the Redmen Club, Owls Club, both in Hagerstown, and loved to go dancing.

DeLinda is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Edward Eugene Shumaker Sr.; two daughters, Tess D. Seibert and Leslie Downey, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Virginia Ruleman of Aberdeen, Md., and Carol Artley of Lake City, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Edward Shumaker Jr. and Hank Shumaker; and two brothers, Russell Cooper and Samuel H. Cooper III.


Funeral services will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Elsabeth Hilde officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
