Tractor show to be held at mall

The Washington County Antique Tractor Club will hold its spring show at Valley Mall from March 2 to 7. There will be tractor displays throughout the mall and a miniature farm display along with a display from the Washington County Tractor Pullers Association.

On Friday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the center mall area, the group will have an old-time rope making display.

On Saturday, March 7, the group will hold a children's pedal pull for those ages 5 to 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the center mall area.

Benefit dinner set for March 8

The Williamsport Blue Band Boosters will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner Sunday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria of Williamsport High School to benefit Josh Forsythe, a freshman member of the Blue Band.


Josh was diagnosed with cancer last fall. All proceeds from the dinner will go to his family to help cover the expenses related to his illness. Tickets cost $5 for adults and students. Food drive to continue

Allegany Dental Care has decided to extend its annual food drive through the end of February. Nonperishable food items may be dropped off at the Virginia Avenue office. For more information, call Cathy at 301-797-6381.

School news

Parents of Washington County students, please be sure to note the following: Schools will close 2 1/2 hours early Friday, March 6. This will mark the end of the fourth marking period for students in secondary schools. Prekindergarten classes will not be held that day.

Cabin fever blues

The prelude to the 2009 Western Maryland Blues Fest is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. at The Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown.
