MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - George Vernon Frye, 89, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at his home.
Born May 3, 1919, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Washington Frye and Vallie Virginia Ross Frye.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ruth Abrell Frye.
He retired from DuPont with 30 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army Air Force.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class.
He is survived by two sons, James V. Frye of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., and Rick D. Frye of Martinsburg; one sister, Virginia Van Metre of Martinsburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; close friend, Marie Detter; and nieces and nephews.
